My wife and I were completely new to the buying process. We didn't know a thing about how realtors work. I met a lot of realtors in a short period of time requesting showings through websites. And they all wanted to help us! So we set up meetings with ones that struck us as decent to find one we'd really like. Makes sense, right? You want someone you can trust.
We actually met Peter and liked him. But Margaret took over because he was going out of town. She took us to a few houses we were interested in. I remember when I asked her questions about the houses, she snapped, "Well I don't know everything about them off-hand!" It was pretty rude and strange, because the other realtor we'd narrowed down to actually did know everything off-hand.
I gave her another chance. We had our daughter with us. She happened to mention seeing a house with the other realtor. In front of my family, she stops everything and says, "You saw anothe realtor? I can't believe it. That is so vile of you. How do you think we make our money? I demand completely loyalty. If you won't give it, I will not help you." I politely told her she would not be helping me and we left.
And that was my experience with Margaret Bannochie. My impression: she cares more about making money than helping you. There are much better realtors in Tulsa. Go to them.
Margaret has been a Realtor for over thirty years and has probably over a thousand satisfied clients. When you are meeting a Realtor face to face for the first time, understand that it's a two way interview. If you are working with several Realtors, don't be surprised if many don't agree to take you on as a client. A good relationship is teamwork. Margaret is a straight shooter and tells the truth, however, she is generally very patient and courteous. If she came across as abrupt, we apologize but many clients appreciate when a problem is directly addressed.
